Ain Shams University operates a dedicated Sleep Ailments Treatment Clinic and Laboratory within one of Egypt’s leading academic medical centres. Clinical and research activities focus on the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders and their interaction with broader medical conditions. The program has contributed to research in sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, and sleep health in chronic disease populations, supporting both clinical care and academic training within the region.
Established in 1998, CairoSleep is one of the pioneering sleep medicine centres in Egypt and the Middle East. The centre provides clinical assessment and treatment of sleep disorders while contributing to education, professional training, and research in areas including sleep-disordered breathing, insomnia, parasomnias, and behavioural sleep medicine. CairoSleep has played an important role in advancing sleep medicine awareness and clinical practice throughout the region.
The Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University (Kasr Al-Ainy) supports sleep-related research, education, and clinical activity through the Departments of Neurology, Chest Medicine, and Clinical Neurophysiology. Areas of interest include sleep-disordered breathing, neurological sleep disorders, sleep epidemiology, and public health. The faculty contributes to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education while supporting research, clinical training, and public awareness initiatives related to sleep medicine and sleep health.
The Sleep Research Unit within the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University supports research, education, and clinical collaboration across the disciplines of Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. Areas of interest include chronic insomnia, parasomnias, sleep-disordered breathing, and the neuropsychiatric aspects of sleep health. The unit has contributed to the scientific literature in sleep medicine and plays an active role in postgraduate education, clinical research, and the advancement of sleep science within Egypt and the region.
